VAAS Vision and Audition Aid System

VAAS is a technological tool designed with the intention of helping patients with schizophrenia and other schizoid disorders in therapeutic treatments where they could be helped to distinguish hallucinatory perceptions from real perceptions, in the fields of vision and hearing.
This project was selected in the MIT IDEA2 program (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in its 2017 edition. In that program, it was reviewed by a group of experts who considered it viable. In addition, from the point of view of its medical usefulness, in a survey conducted among medical professionals from different fields (psychiatrists, neurologists, and clinical psychologists), the response was very positive.

The tool is based on already developed and operational technologies such as artificial intelligence (neural networks) for artificial vision and hearing, and augmented reality, to detect and highlight elements present in the patient field of vision and hearing.
